Blood-typing Requirements

Beginning January 1, 1991, all Native Pure and Foundation Pure animals must be blood-typed before registration papers will be issued by the AWIR.

All live Native Pure and Foundation Pure cattle registered prior to January 1, 1991, will be required to submit a copy of the animal's blood-type by January 1, 1992.

After January 1, 1992, offspring (Pure or Percentage) of non-blood-typed Native Pure or Foundation Pure cattle cannot be registered until the Pure parent/parents are either blood-typed or certified deceased.

The University of California (Davis) Genetics Laboratory is the approved blood-typing facility.

Exception: Blood-typing requirements are waived for registration of castrated males or spayed females. (Addendum: See hardship rule, section 30 of the AWIR Handbook, revised 930402.)
