A while back someone from the
"My Chihuahua" web
site emailed me claiming they had created the ChiMail graphic in 1998. I
looked at their web site & was shocked. They had articles telling
people they fed their dogs the peelings from food instead of putting them
in the trash. This is like letting a dog eat out of the garbage. I
think they have since removed that part. Any way ...................
I do not know how
"My
Chihuahua" created the graphic on the right that is on their web site
but the Chihuahua Graphic on the left was given to me in April 1997 by a
friend of mine, Denise Rengan, who lived in Alaska. A year before
"My
Chihuahua" claims to have created theirs. I received it shortly
after I got out of the hospital when I lost both of my legs above the knee.
It was sent to me on a disk, which I still have to this day. The copy
date on the disk is April 10, 1997. She also sent a personal message
giving me the rights to the graphic that she had created for me.
The original email graphic Denise had created was a Doxie and was done in
1995. (I also have a copy of her original Doxie Email graphic on the
same disk with the ChiMail.) The Chihuahua Email graphic uses the same body
as the Doxie but she changed the head to a Chihuahua. Denise Rengan
was a very special friend I went to school with. She loved to draw
cartoon type characters & was probably one of the first people I knew
to get a personal computer. She did some wonderful cartoon graphics
of animals. Unfortunately she was killed in a car wreck on Feb. 23,
1999. We started school together and graduated together. Denise
fell in love with Doxies & me with Chihuahuas. We both moved to
different parts of the country but always kept in touch.
I do not know how the Chimail graphic on the right was done but I am being
accused of stealing the one I have from
"My
Chihuahuas" web site. This I did not do and I have told them this
many times. If you read their site, they even say theirs was created in 1998
which is after the one I have was created. I do not mind people using the
Chihuahua Email graphic from my site as long as it remains unchanged.
It is funny to read the story about the email graphic at the
"My
Chihuahua" web site. They even say that, "Denise Rengan obviously
cleaned it up abit, (messed up the tail movement) added a copyright and claimed
it as her own." How could she have done that when she had already sent
me the graphic in 1997? I first used it on my web site Oct. 1997.
Again, this is before "My Chihuahua" claims to have created theirs.
I believe the copyright dates of both the graphic & web sites speak
for themselves. My web site, Wayann Chihuahuas, was created in 1997.
The "My Chihuahua" web site shows a copyright date of 1998. ("All content,
animations and graphics are sole property and © 1998 - 2001
"MY"Chihuahuas.")
When I received the graphic from Denise it had the copyright on the graphic
& in one of the frames. I have since added a "watermark" to it. The
one on the right has a lot of missing pixels or color problems compared to
the Chimail on the left. Some lines are more distorted & it's eyes
bounce around. One of the ears also appears smashed. If you go
into an animation program and try to remove Denise's copyright information
it will cause the graphic to become distorted.
Since their version of the ChiMail graphic is the one that is messed up,
I do not know what "My Chihuahua" means by this statement on their web site:
"*Note: Guess what I found out? When I tried to add a copyright text to the
original gif it screwed up the tail movement..hmmmmm."
To ensure the integrity of Denise's graphic, it now has a permanent "Watermark"
that is registered. If you would like to use the Chihuahua Email Graphic
on the left, please do not change it in any way. I do require a link
back so others may read her story. Please email me with your web site
address before you use the graphic. It may not be used on any PuppyMill web
sites. You will need to use the link button below on your web site to
link back to me. The link MUST be on the same page as the graphic. |
