Guidelines
Black Creek Review is now accepting poetry for its premiere issue. I hope you will join the family of creative thinkers. The guidelines are below and take a look at the contest flyer too.
1. All poetry must be the original work, previously published material Ok, but no simultaneous submissions please.
2. There is no line limit but space is a premium so poems longer than 50 lines will have a harder time making publication.
3. Send no more then three poems per submission. Poems may be any style, any subject but please use discretion,
children will be reading these pages.
4. Name and address must be on the upper right hand corner of each page of poetry, one poem per page. On the left hand corner put designation for purpose; ig: contest, magazine, feature poet.
5. A self-addressed stamped envelope must accompany each submission or entry will not be acknowledged.
6. Entry for the feature poet should follow all rules except that five poems should be submitted. Send these separately from magazine submission.
7. No purchase is required for publication, a tear sheet of your page
will be sent on request and SASE. Feature poet receives one free copy.
8. Black creek Review will publish in January, May and September, no regular manuscripts will be accepted after the 1st of the month previous to publication month. (December, April, October)
9. Supplement contest manuscripts are accepted all year, see separate guidelines for the One-On-One contests.
10.Subscription is $15.00. $5.50 per issue. Make all checks out to Nancy Dodrill.
Contests
Black Creek Review will sponsor a three subject contest in each issue. The winners and honorable mentions will be published in each issue in January, May and September. In addition, a supplement to Black Creek Review will be published bi monthly (Feb, April, June, August, October and December) with one on one competition. Guidelines for both are as follows:
1. For basic contests: Name and address must be on the upper right hand side of each entry. The contest must be on the upper left corner of every entry. All fees must accompany contest and a SASE must be included.
One entry per page.
2. For Magazine entries only: Prize are: 1st place $25.00, 2nd place $10.00, 3rd place $5.00...each winner will also receive a credit towards ten tri fold poetry brocures. (You will need to supply four other poems to be printed~) First contest themes are: Nature, People and Places.
3. For One on One: Prizes are 1st place $20.00, 2nd place $10.00 and 3rd place $5.00 plus ten tri fold poetry brochures. One on One poems is a progressive format. Poems are given a number and published without names (names are given at end) poem one competes only with poem two in the first contest, the winner goes on to compete against the 3rd or 4th poem winner and on down until only three poems are selected. The
fourth place will receive an HM position. This is a peer vote contest so ballots will be sent with contest and will have to be received by the 10th of the next month. There are only thirty-two contestants per contest and there will be several contests going on at once. All contest have open themes unless otherwise stated. A. Poems 2-7 lines B. 8-16 lines c. 17-24 lines.
4. Fees for all contests are $2.00 per or 3 for $5.00. Flyer costs $2.00 per issue or $12.00 for a year/6 issues. BCR is $5.50 per issue $15.00 per year. Make all checks payable to Nancy Dodrill.
