I was born in Austin, Texas on the morning of March 6, 1978 to a very happy couple named Ridge and Sunny Hammons. They said I was the definition of "love" so they named me Amie, French for "Beloved". After a year and a half, they had a little boy named Will, my baby brother and best friend. Well, then the happy family split up. My mother took me and my brother and moved to Kansas, a little town named Peabody, which is close to Wichita. No big deal, right?
Well, as I grew up, my mother realized that I was an extremely talented little girl. Born with perfect pitch and an amazing sight-reading ability, they immediately put me in Voice Lessons, where I excelled beyond my teacher's capacity. My father was living in Corpus Christi, TX and so after a ton of begging on my part, she finally let me move here, where I was met with amazing opportunities. No longer a big fish in a small pond, I was forced to deal with this new competition and survive. Survive, I did. I succeeded in many competitions, inluding becoming a member of All-State Choir for two consecutive years, and auditiong for State Solo and Ensemble Competions where I earned numerous awards. During this time, I decided to become a music major. I had a hard time looking at schools. I couldn't decide where to go! I had, at first, decided to go to Sam Houston State, where they have a great music program. Then I went to A&M and fell in love with the campus, the people, and, of course, the CORE GUYS!!!! But there was a major glich in this plan: No MUSIC Dept.!!! Bummer. So, coming from a VERY long line of Longhorns, I pretty much decided on University of Texas , but I wasn't sure so I stayed here in Corpus and went to the college here in town, Del Mar College. It has been very beneficial so far, I can do school and work and still be a college kid, ya' know? Well, now I have for sure decided on UT so hopefully I'll be going there in the fall.
