All gave some and some gave all.
Some stood through for the red, white and blue,
and some had to fall.
And if you ever think of me,
think of all your liberties, and recall,
some gave all.

On July 28th, I adopted a POW/MIA from my homestate of Tennessee.
This is a cause that is very dear to my heart. When I put my request
in for a soldier I did not request any special branch. I received a Marine.
I have 3 brothers who were all US Marines. This is the first coincidence.
The second one is my adoptee's date of birth. When I was reading his
bio and came to the birthday, you could hear a pin drop. You see, MY
birthday is also on February 6th, altho not the same year. This told me
that this was meant to be. Gerald Eugene King and I were meant to be
connected. I hope you will enjoy your visit here and in the days to come,
I am hoping to add more links and information as they become available
to me. Thank you: Cathy

Happy Birthday Gerald, February 6th. Thinking of you and remembering you always.....

Another Pair of Wings

Tonight another pair of wings, were placed upon the tree
Its part of our family tradition, started many years ago.
Each year, we recite for the little ones the story of our Angle on top
We call her our loved ones eyes and through her, our departed loved ones can visit
And look upon us and share, all the joy and happiness, that the holidays bring.
Then we place our memory ornaments upon the tree with love
And wish our "Angels" a special prayer, to let them know we care
I swore I could almost feel your spirit
As I placed your wings there tonight.
Your a part of my family, it feels so right.
Merry Christmas Gerald.

To My Unseen Hero

Dear Gerald
Has it really been thirty years
Where has the time gone
You were just a young man
Barely past age twenty
Since you were last seen
In my never ending quest
To find out what kind of man
You were and what you were like
You've become a part of my world
While I've stepped into yours
I've never seen your face
I only know your name and
What little else they've told me
I don't even know if
You have siblings or even a child.
On this day of rememberance
I know that somewhere out there
There are others who did know you
Who are thinking of you with fond
Memories and feelings of sadness
And unanswered questions.
You are not forgotten
Nor will you ever be
As long as there is one person
Who cares....you'll live forever
In our hearts.
You are loved Gerald...and missed.

Veterans Day 1998

WE WENT PROUD

We fought in valleys
We fought in the air
Wondering what in the hell
We were doing there!

We fought up hills
In tunnels and paddies
Scared of nights
That were so still.

We fought with honor
We fought with pride
We found we were mortal
When a buddy died!

We did our time
To make 'em free
But when we came home
There was nothing for you or me.

No parades, no joyous crowds
No on to say "we're proud!"
But those of us who took the bet
We'll always be proud
That we're Nam vets.
