Located in the center of an active boating community and surrounded by boatyards, mechanics, riggers, sail makers and a chandlery, Pacific Yachts, a yacht and ship brokerage for over twenty years, can find your boat and outfit it to meet the tough demands of the ocean. Whether your boating needs are day sailing or offshore cruising, you will discover that Pacific Yachts is a recognized and trusted name in Santa Cruz, an established Yacht and Ship Brokerage with a branch office and permanent sales agent in Monterey and also covering  Moss Landing.

After more than twenty years in operation, Pacific Yachts has completed the sale and transfer of several hundred new and used sail and power boats from 20' to 65' to their new owners in California, Washington, Oregon, Arizona, Mexico, Hawaii, and New Zealand. The owner/broker, Chris Chrones, member of the California Yacht Brokers' Association, and sales agents have a combined sailing experience of more than 100,000 nautical miles in USA and abroad, including Mexico, the Caribbean, and the Mediterranean Sea.

The demand for slips in Monterey Bay is so high that a list of three to fifteen years is common.  We assist our clients in several ways. For a comprehensive overview of current berthing regulations in the four harbors of Monterey Bay, please contact the harbor offices:  831-475-6161 for Santa Cruz, 831-633-2461 for Moss Landing, 831-646-3950 for Monterey Municipal Harbor, and 831-393-7857 for Monterey Breakwater Marina.

PROFILES

Chris Chrones, MSEE , a native of Greece, and Inger Chrones, retired teacher from Fremont Union High School District, a native of Sweden, left Silicon Valley years ago to form Pacific Yachts. They both agree that these years of associating with boats of all kinds and sizes have been filled with excitement and adventure, cruising to and in Mexico, sailing in the Caribbean and in Greece, and meeting all sorts of wonderful people. Having owned a number of boats on the West Coast, they have sold their Beneteau Oceanis in Greece but still sail when an opportunity arises. “Competent and experienced sales agents are the key to a successful brokerage,” says Chris. “After more than 500 sail and powerboat sales, some to returning clients, Pacific Yachts has managed to do what it takes, from survey and sea demonstration to title transfer and documentation.”

Captain Gene Maly, having logged 75,000+ miles at sea, is a nineteen-year veteran with Pacific Yachts where he has listed and sold many sail and power boats: Westsail 43, Brewer 42, and Grand Banks 32 to name only a few. Active on the racing circuit, Gene has skippered a Beneteau 40 during the Antigua Race Week, was the tactician on a Newport 41 in the 1994 West Marine Pacific Cup to Hawaii, and recently raced in Thailand. In addition to boat sales, this multi-faceted yachtsman is active in domestic and international deliveries of sail and power boats, e.g. Santa Cruz 50 and 52, PT-35 and Heritage 42. In Monterey he also rigs boats, teaches sailing and charters his own sailboat under the name Carrera Sailing. Gene can be reached directly at 831-375-0648 or gmaly101@msn.com. His website is http://www.sailmontereybay.com

Costas Chronis is our representative in Greece. A chemical engineer, graduate of Athens Polytechnic Institute, and owner of Omega Yachts, Costas often sails his Omega 56 with his eldest son as crew.  He also owns a company that produces fiberglass and commercial chemical products and has served as a consultant to surveyors of fiberglass boats. Furthermore, he is an experienced sailor and boat deliverer. He is well versed in title transfer and all facets of yacht ownership in Greece, both private and commercial (charter). Costas can be reached directly at his email adress: c.chronis@costaschronis.com or by mobile phone: 6977658652 (country code 30). He can also be reached by contacting Pacific Yachts.

Since Peter (Pete) Chrones joined Pacific Yachts, we have been able to keep the office open seven days a week. He brings technical knowledge after having been employed almost twenty years in the electronics service industry and is also computer savvy; his most recent position before joining Pacific Yachts was that of integrated specialist (networking). Pete shares ownership of the brokerage and is working out of our Santa Cruz office. He has come to be known as a "buyer's broker" since 2002 and has succeeded in finding boats for his clients in cooperation with other brokers in San Francisco, Los Angeles and Seattle to name a few areas.  His slogan is:" If we don't have the boat you want, we will find it for you." When he is not in the office, you may find Pete fishing from a powerboat or sailing on Monterey Bay.
