=^..^=  Finnishline is the name I registered in 1998 with Cat Fanciers' Association (CFA) & The International Cat Association (TICA).  I live in a small town in upstate New York with my mom, Lucille McGrady. I share my home with my first Norwegian Forest Cat ~ Naturskat Heidi of Finnishline; two littermate sisters ~ Naturskat Guinevere of Finnishline & Naturskat Victoria of Finnishline; my male Morgan av Skara Brae; my foundation female (now spayed) ~ Epona Aine of Finnishline; Aine's grand-daughter Finnishline Gilda; Winterfyre Fiona of Finnishline; and Lucille owns Aine's grandson Finian.

We abide by a voluntary signed TICA Code of Ethics and a voluntary Code of Ethics for the Norwegian Forest Cat Fanciers' Association.

A Little History
=^..^=  Although the Norwegian Forest Cat is considered a new breed in the United States, "The Skogkatt" is centuries old in its native homeland. There is speculation that they may be descendants of short-haired cats brought to Norway by the Vikings & long-haired cats brought to Norway by the Crusaders. The adverse Norwegian climate & Mother Nature's "survival of the fittest" played a factor in their evolution. Their dense undercoat is covered by long guard hairs which act as protection against snow & rain. Their fully mature coat can take up to 3 years to develop.

=^..^=  Designed by "Mother Nature" Norwegian Forest Cats are available in most colors except for the colorpoint pattern seen on Siamese. A Norwegian Forest Cat is a heavily-boned cat with a medium length body. Eyes are almond-shaped & expressive. Ears are tufted and some have lynx-like ear tips. Males average 12-15 lbs & females average 8-10 lbs at 4-5 years when fully mature.

=^..^=  FIFe (Federation Internationale Feline) accepted the NFC for championship status in Nov 1977. The first breeding pair was imported Nov 1, 1979 & the first litter was born Mar 29, 1981. TICA accepted the NFC for full championship status in Aug 1984.  CFA accepted the breed for full championship status in 1993
