For All the Babies and Kids in the World ...

Every night my daughters and I say a special prayer for all the babies and kids in the world. They need it. Child abuse, cruelty, hunger, dispassion ... whatever it is, it hurts innocent, hope-filled children everywhere and it breaks my heart.

I truly believe, as parents, we are here to love our children ... first and above all else. If one of my daughters is having a bad moment, I try to love her more. It has helped me raise two sweet, loving and kind human beings. I am constantly amazed by their inner beauty and compassion. This page is being created as a helping hand for parents and kids everywhere. If I help only one person, I have achieved a dream.

Children Learn What They Live
Dorothy Law Nolte

If children live with criticism,
They learn to condemn.
If children live with hostility,
They learn to fight.
If children live with ridicule,
They learn to be shy.
If children live with shame,
They learn to feel guilty.
If children live with tolerance,
They learn to be patient.
If children live with encouragement,
They learn confidence.
If children live with praise,
They learn to appreciate.
If children live with fairness,
They learn justice.
If children live with security,
They learn to have faith.
If children live with approval,
They learn to like themselves.
If children live with acceptance and friendship,
They learn to find love in the world.

The following verse is touching and right on target. Kids see everything ... watch your backs!

How Love Raises Children
Mary Rita Schilke Korzan

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you hang my first painting on the refrigerator, and I wanted to paint another one.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you feed a stray cat, and I thought it was good to be kind to animals.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw you make my favorite cake for me, and I knew that little things are special things.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I heard you say a prayer, and I believed there is a God I could always talk to.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I felt you kiss me goodnight, and I felt loved.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw tears come from your eyes, and I learned that sometimes things hurt, but it's all right to cry.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I saw that you cared and I wanted to be everything that I could be.

When you thought I wasn't looking, I looked ... and wanted to say thanks for all the things I saw when you thought I wasn't looking.

Observations on Life From Children

Never trust a dog to watch your food.

When you want something expensive, ask your grandparents.

Never smart off to a teacher whose eyes and ears are twitching.

Don't flush the john when your dad is in the shower.

Never ask for anything that costs more than $5 when
your parents are doing taxes.

When your dad is mad and asks, "Do I look stupid?!?!", don't answer him.

Never tell your mother her diet isn't working.

Don't pick on your sister when she's holding a baseball bat.

Never try to baptize a cat.

Never spit when on a roller coaster.

Never do pranks at a police station.

Beware of cafeteria food when it looks like it's moving.

No matter how good an idea it seems,
do not short-sheet your parents bed.

Listen to your brain. It has lots of information.

Never dare your little brother to paint the family car.

Forget the cake, go for the icing.

MOM'S PRAYER
Author unknown

Now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray my sanity to keep.
For if some peace I do not find,
I'm pretty sure I'll lose my mind.

I pray I find a little quiet
Far from the daily family riot
May I lie back--not have to think
about what they're stuffing down the sink,
or who they're with, or where they're at
and what they're doing to the cat.

I pray for time all to myself
(did something just fall off a shelf?)

To cuddle in my nice, soft bed
(Oh no, another goldfish--dead!)

Some silent moments for goodness sake
(Did I just hear a window break?)

And that I need not cook or clean--
(well heck, I've got the right to dream)

Yes now I lay me down to sleep,
I pray my wits about me keep,
But as I look around I know--
I must have lost them long ago!
