Materials
3 ounces each of red and white worsted weight cotton yarn
Crochet hook size G
Two 2 lucite rings

Red or white kitchen towel

Potholder
Center (make 2)
With white, ch 4; join with a sl st to form ring
Round 1: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, work 11 more dc in ring; join with a
sl st to the to[ of the beginning ch 3. (12 dc)
Round 2: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, dc in the same st as joining; work 2
dc in each remaining dc around; join with a sl st to the top of the beginning
ch 3. (24 dc)
Round 3: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, dc in the same st as joining (dc in
the next dc, 2 dc in the next dc) 11 times, dc in the last dc; join with a sl st
to the top of the beginning ch 3. (36 dc)
Round 4: Ch 1, sc in the same st as joining, sc in the next sc, 2 sc in the
next sc, (sc in each of the next 2 sc, 2 sc in the next sc) 11 times; join with
a sl st to the first sc. (48 sc) Fasten off. Weave in ends.
With wrong sides together, sc both circles together around the outside. (48
sc)
Outer striped section
With white, ch 13
Row 1: Sc in the 2nd ch from hook, sc in the next ch, hdc in each of the
next 2 chs, dc in each of the next 4 chs, hdc in each on the next 2 chs, sc in
each of the last 2 ch; ch 1, turn. (12 sts)
Row 2: Sc in each of the first 2 sc, hdc in each of the next 2 hdc, dc in each
of the next 4 dc, hdc in each of the next 2 hdc, sc in each of the last 2 sc,
changing to red at the top of the last sc; ch 1, turn. (12 sts)
Row 3: Sc in each of the first 2 sc, hdc in each of the next 2 hdc, dc in each
of the next 4 dc, hdc in each of the next 2 hdc, sc in each of the last 2 sc;
ch 1, turn. (12 sts)
Row 4: Sc in each of the first 2 sc, hdc in each of the next 2 hdc, dc in each
of the next 4 dc, hdc in each of the next 2 hdc, sc in each of the last 2 sc,
changing to white at the top of the last sc; ch 1, turn. (12 sts)
Row 5: Sc in each of the first 2 sc, hdc in each of the next 2 hdc, dc in each
of the next 4 dc, hdc in each of the next 2 hdc, sc in each of the last 2 sc;
ch 1, turn. (12 sts)
Rows 6-47: (Repeat rows 2-5) 10 times, then repeat rows 2-3 once more.
Row 48: Sc in each of the first 2 sc, hdc in each of the next 2 hdc, dc in
each of the next 4 dc, hdc in each of the next 2 hdc, sc in each of the last 2
sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Finishing
Sew row 48 to row 1 to form a donut shape. Sew or sc the inner ring
together, then sew or sc to the white inside circles. With white, ch 15, join
with a sl st to form ring. Sl st in each ch around and join to the first sl st.
Sew this to the top of the potholder for a hanging loop.
Dishcloth
(Note: The ch 3 at the beginning of each row counts as a dc)
With red ch 32
Row 1: Dc in the 4th ch from hook and in each ch across, changing to
white at the top of the last dc; ch 3, turn. (30 dc)
Row 2: Carrying the red yarn across under the white stitches, dc in each dc
across, changing to red at the top of the last dc; ch 3, turn. (30 dc)
Row 3: Carrying the white yarn across under the red stitches, dc in each dc
across, changing to white at the top of the last dc; ch 3, turn. (30 dc)
Rows 4-17: (Repeat rows 2-3) 7 times. Do not change to white at the end
of row 17. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Towel Ring
Round 1: Lay one lucite ring on top of the other. Working around BOTH
rings for the first 11 stitches and carrying the unused color behind each
stitch, work (1 sc in red, 1 sc in white) 5 times, then work 1 more sc in red;
after these 11 stitches, work around the TOP ring only (leaving the rest of
the bottom ring unworked) (1 sc in white, 1 sc in red) 13 times, then 1
more sc in white; join with a sl st to the first red sc. (38 sc)
Round 2: With white, sl st in the next 3 sc, ch 1, sc in the same st, sc in the
next 4 sc; ch 1, turn. *Sc in each of the 5 sc; ch 1, turn* Repeat from * to
* 16 times. Sc in the first sc, ch 3, skip next 3 sc for buttonhole, sc in the
last sc; ch 1, turn; sc in the first sc, sc in the ch 3 sp, sc in the last sc.
Continuing down the side, (sc in the side of each sc) 19 times; sc in each sc
around the ring; sc in the 3 sl sts at the beginning of the round; (sc in the
side of each sc) 19 times; sc in each of the top 3 sc; join with a sl st to the
next sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Bow
With red, ch 20; join with a sl st to form ring.
Round 1: Sl st in each of the next 2 chs, sc in each of the next 7 chs, sl st
in each of the next 3 chs, sc in each of the last 7 chs.
Round 2: Sl st in each of the next 3 chs, sc in each of the next 7 chs, sl st
in each of the next 3 chs, sc in each of the last 7 chs.
Round 3: Repeat round 2. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Finishing
Sew bow to the top of the ring as shown in the photo. Sew the button
behind the bow. Insert the towel in between the two rings, then out through
the center of the bottom ring.
