Christmas Rose Towel Ring

This towel ring can be tied to a cabinet or fridge handle.


Materials
Worsted weight cotton yarn: about 2 ounces of red,

1 ounce of dark green and a small amount of white
Crochet hooks size G
and D
Yarn needle

Two 2” lucite rings
White kitchen towel




Rose
With red and size G hook, ch 4; join with a sl st to the first ch to form a ring

Round 1: (Sc in the ring, ch 3) 8 times; join with a sl st to the first sc.

Round 2: (Sc, ch 1, 3 dc, ch 1, sc) in each ch 3 space around; do not join.

Round 3: Working behind round 2, (bpsc around the post of the next sc on round 1, ch 4) 8 times; join with a sl st to the first bpsc.

Round 4: (Sc, ch 1, 5 dc, ch 1, sc) in each ch 4 space around; do not join.

Round 5: Working behind round 4, (bpsc around the post of the next bpsc on round 3, ch 5) 8 times; join with a sl st to the first bpsc.

Round 6: (Sc, ch 1, 7 dc, ch 1, sc) in each ch 5 space around; do not join.

Round 7: Working behind round 6, (bpsc around the post of the next bpsc on round 3, ch 3) 8 times; join with a sl st to the first bpsc.

Round 8: (Attaching rings) Lay one of the 2” lucite rings over the back of the rose. Attach ring by working 5 sc in each of the next 5 ch-3 spaces AND around the ring. Lay the second 2” ring on top of the first ring. Attach second ring by working 5 sc in each of the next 3 ch-3 spaces AND around both rings. Join with a sl st to the first sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.


Ties
Using size G hook, attach white with a sl st to the first sc worked around both rings, ch 51, sl st in the 2nd ch from hook and in each of the remaining 49 ch's across, sl st in the same sc where white was attached. Fasten off. Attach white to the last sc worked around both rings, ch 51, sl st in the 2nd ch from hook and in each of the remaining 49 ch's across, sl st in the same sc where white was attached. Fasten off.


Leaves (make 4)
With size D hook and dark green, ch 10
Round 1: 2 sc in the 2nd ch from hook, hdc in the next ch, dc in the next ch, trc in each of the next 3 ch's,  dc in the next ch, hdc in the next ch, 3 sc in the last ch; working around the other side in the base of the foundation chains, skip the first foundation ch, hdc in the next ch, dc in the next ch, trc in each of the next 3 ch's, dc in the next ch, hdc in the next ch, sc in the next ch; join with a sl st to the first ch. (20 sts) Fasten off, leaving a 12" yarn tail for sewing.

Thread yarn needle with yarn tail and sew leaves to round 8 of the rose as indicated in the photo.

Insert towel through the back ring.
