A Stitch in Time
Zelina Silverfox
Tired of seeing your parents with a sewing project on the go? Don't like running to your parents at events to get your stuff because you have no place to put it, and they have those neat pouches? Well wait no more! Learn the pleasure of being able to say "I did this." Children ages 5 to 16 will get comfortable with a needle and thread, get the basics of sewing, and be encouraged to start their own small projects. I will have enough materials for a pouch they can finish on their own if there is not enough time.

Philosophies of Re-enactment; or, Piercingly Accurate Images Signifying Nothing
Magnunnr Hringsdottir
A basic look at why and how we do re-enactment through six different styles thereof, including both first- and third-person approaches. Discussions includes questions like, "Are there different kinds of authenticity?" and "Is one style better than another?" Specific examples of cool SCAdians will be given.

Scroll Slam
Steffan ap Kennydd
Similar to a "poetry slam", this class is concerned with composing scroll wordings especially when the scroll involves unusual circumstances or time pressure, and would be useful for scroll — wordsmiths, calligraphers, and heralds (especially those who want practice in "zenning" scrolls).

Six P's of Peerage
Steffan ap Kennydd, Elspeth Keyfe of Neddingham
This concerns the mechanics and criteria whereby one earns a peerage in the SCA.

Boardwork
Master Edward Newman,
A0A, C.M., O.L., known mundanely as Ken Nye [nye_ken@hotmail.com]
Boardwork is the group of skills required to get hair as it comes from a human head made up into hairpieces of various types. It does seem to be quite mysterious to most people but it is something I know how to do and can demonstrate.

Beginner Cooking
Cealian of Moray
The class is for gentles entering or thinking of entering cooking in the SCA. But are timid about taking on a task for such large gatherings.Concentration on menu planning , purchasing , timing, portions sizes, and service styles. Simple basics of cooking for large gatherings. Beginnings of redaction research.

Introduction to Italian Dance
Master Harold von Auerbach
This will include a vocabulary of Italian dance steps and a description of how they are performed, at least one example of a late period dance that will be walked through and done with music, and a discussion of how this style of dancing can add elegance to other SCA dances.

Knitting and Nalbinding
Lady Janet Kempe
Will discuss some history of knitting and how it was used in period. Basic knitting techniques will be tried by participants; e.g. casting on and off, knit and purl stitches. Some discussion of nalbinding and its uses and techniques. Participants may be able to try it if I can come up with some needles.

15th-Century Women's Clothing
Lady Isobel Mobray
An overview women's clothing during the War of the Roses.

Buttons and Buttonholes
Estela du Frayse, AoA, CoM, CoSC, QoC, OBT
Students will be required to bring a small sewing kit of snips, needles of a mid size and a thimble. Students will leave with a button and sample buttonhole.

Green Eggs and Hosen; or, "I Will Not Wear That Silly Thing, /I Will Not Wear Most Everything"
Lord Gilbert the Short
A practical and down to earth look at our issues and concerns when it comes to garb.

How to Load a Card Weaving Loom, With or Without a Loom
This class will teach the principles of card weaving as found in Viking graves. It will discuss warp and weft; S and Z threads; how to make and load the cards; and how to weave with the cards even without an inkle loom.
Mistress Elizabeth Darnley, OL, used to be an 11th-century Viking lady named Morag. While traveling abroad she was lucky to learn card weaving from several knowledgeable folks, and inspired enough to purchase an inkle loom and start weaving.
Fee for supplies: $2.

How to Design Single-face Card Weaving Patterns
Mistress Elizabeth Darnley, OL
This class is designed to teach the novice weaver the principles of card weaving patterns; how to lay out the design; thread the design; and how to use the four-hole card system to manipulate the design. Hopefully it will inspire original works.

Bookbinding
Lyle FitzWilliam
The result of this class will be a simple blank book with wooden boards (no leather cover). Fee for materials: $10 US.

Viking Thank-You Cards
Lady Mergriet "Griet" de la Voye
Yes, the Norse wouldn't of taken pen to paper, however on the occasion of making a Norse styled/themed painted scroll we will cover some of the basics of scribal materials and then move onto faux norse script as well as futhark (and other Norse alphabets) and Norse design. In order to further explore this further, we will be producing "thank you" cards in the class. I will be bringing in some samples, templates, paper and paints to play with, I will have some extra brushes but would appreciate it if anyone who may be attending to bring at least a size "0" brush suitable for watercolour paint. The class will be geared towards adults but is suitable for most ages to participate. Experience is not needed.

Fixing Calligraphy Mistakes
Mistress Alienor

The Barony of Ruantallan has, at present, a small group of scribes working for the Tyger's Signet and scribes working as the Ruantallan Scriprotium on baronial scrolls. The Ruantallan scribes would like to invite all visiting scribes to come meet everyone as well as share information and stories. This will be a general round table discussion so we can all share techniques, resources and inspiration. Whether wordsmith, calligrapher or illuminator, scribes of all skill levels are invited. Please feel free to bring samples of your work to share. Scribes are encouraged to bring any tips, bibliograhies or handouts you would like to pass on. Shoemaking
Master Edward Newman, AoA, CM, OL, known mundanely as Ken Nye, nye_ken@hotmail.com
I'll just sit in a common area and do demo/talk as people come and go to avoid conflict with other classes. That way I can cover a range of levels without everyone having to sit through the whole thing from the begining.

Master Edward Newman
Boardwork is the group of skills required to get hair as it comes from a human head made up into hairpieces of various types. It does seem to be quite mysterious to most people but it is something I know how to do and can demonstrate.
