The Rock Creek Yoga Retreats, also known as Yellowstone Yoga Vacations, are
detailed in the book, Yoga Vacations: A Guide to International Yoga Retreats,
compiled by Annalisa Cunningham for John Muir Publications, P.O. Box 613,
Santa Fe, NM 87504.

Location: Homebase for the retreats is the beautiful Rock Creek Resort
located on the world famous Beartooth Highway, 65 miles from Billings,
Montana; five miles from Red Lodge, Montana; 65 miles from Cody, Wyoming;
and, 63 miles from Yellowstone Park. Billings is 50 miles from the site of
the Battle of the Little Bighorn (aka, Custer's Last Stand) and 25 miles from
Pompey's Pillar, where the only physical evidence of the Lewis and Clark
Expedition remains: William Clark's signature carved in stone. Both Red Lodge
and Cody cater to tourists and have a lot to offer besides great scenery and
fine restaurants.

Philosophy of the Teachers: For the Yellowstone Yoga experience, the theme is
"Spirit and Nature Dancing Together". In this incredible natural setting, we
hope to provide each participant with a nice balance of feel-good yoga and
diverse recreational opportunities. Group outings and activities will always
be planned for the bulk of each day, sandwiched between yoga sessions.
However, the schedualed activities will always be optional with advice and
direction provided on other options. Flexibilty in body, mind and activities
will be encouraged. We foster group connectedness but also want to
personalize the experience for individuals.

Student Criteria: All levels are welcome. Being in reasonably good hiking
shape would help one to derive full enjoyment from the types of activities
available.

Accomodations:
The Rock Creek Resort has various types of rooms and a variety of
units with kitchenettes. All accomodations are first class. Yoga sessions
will usually be held at the resort. Participants may choose to lodge
elsewhere in Red Lodge or at a nearby campground. A KOA with hookups is
about seven miles away and a "rustic" campground on the creek is just a few miles away.

Meals: Breakfast will be provided daily. Participants will be responsible
for lunches and dinners. Many options will generally be available. A packed
lunch will be appropriate for some outings. Again, flexibility will be the
name of the game yet a high priority will be put on meeting individual taste
and metabolic requirements! Those with rigid dietary regimens may find it
hard to meet their needs with local restaurants in Red Lodge.

Fee: The fee for the yoga classes, organized activities, breakfasts, and
"tour-guide" services is $385 for the six-day retreat. Transportation for
outings will also be provided. Charges for whitewater rafting, museums,
green fees, fishing licenses and the like are not covered. Shunning the
crowded places, we will explore some of the "Greater Yellowstone Ecosystem"
that the average tourist misses completely. Alas, they don't even know what
they're missing! Advice on touring within the boundaries of Yellowstone and
maximizing the experience will be provided as a courtesy to any who plan to
extend their vacation. As a final note, Charles Kuralt described the roadway
between Red Lodge and The Park as "the most beautiful in America", so
getting to Yellowstone is half of the pleasure and much less crowded.

Guest Comment: "I loved my experience at the yoga retreat held at Rock Creek
Resort in Red Lodge. Elizabeth's style of teaching yoga is dynamic and
effective for releasing tension in the body and bringing in spiritual
awareness. Elizabeth teaches from the heart with a priceless knowledge of
yoga. The Rock Creek Resort felt like heaven on earth.. The scenic views and
trails, with the creek flowing in front, provided a tranquil, pleasing
experience. I can't wait for the next."

Elizabeth and David Klarich love to share yoga and the beauty of "Big Sky
Country" with those who appreciate both. It's quite a combination: Western hospitality and grandeur mixed with the jewel of
Eastern traditions, Yoga. Spirit and Nature will dance together as we gather
around a campfire under the incredible night sky of the Beartooth Mountains,
feeling the Presence as we lift our hearts in communal song.

The summer of the new millenium marks the first time that six day long
retreats will be held. We welcome inquiries. We want the retreats to feel custom made for the participants. Since this is a new venture
for us, we have questions also. They will only be answered when we just get IN-TU-IT! This is where flexibility is once again important. Thank God for Yoga.
