Goal

The goal of this site is to illustrate and provide free, online, interactive arithmetic exercises and problems.  It contains a series of basic math lessons which are intended to be a resource that can be used by math students in formal elementary education math classes, home schooling or elsewhere.

It is believed that interactive lessons are much more conducive to learning math skills than traditional textbooks and worksheets for the following reasons:

  • The ability to animate illustrations of concepts.
  • Interactive exercises provide immediate feedback with the correct answer if a mistake is made.  This eliminates repetitive practice of incorrect methods which is typical of traditional homework assignments.
  • The ability to have interactive games that illustrate the lesson.
  • The ability to link to other resources available on the internet.
Plans for the future include:
  • Completion of the basic math pages with explanations and interactive exercises
  • Improving explanations with animated illustrations of concepts
  • Finding and developing fun and interesting activities and games that reinforce the concepts.

This is a relatively new web site that was started in early 2000. It is being actively improved and extended. We would appreciate knowing of any mistake (major or minor) that you notice on this site.
