Multiplication by 0, 1, 2 and 3

In the next several lessons we will learn the basic multiplication facts.

Mutiplying by 0

Any number multiplied by 0 equals 0.

Mutiplying by 1

Any number multiplied by 1 equals that number.

Mutiplying by 2

Multiplying a number by 2 gives the same answer that you would get by couting by twos that number of times. For example, if we multiply 4 times 2 the answer is eight ( 4 * 2 = 8). This is the same as counting 2, 4, 6, 8.

The multiplication facts that you should know about multiplying by 2 are:

     0 * 2 = 0 1 * 2 = 2 2 * 2 = 4 3 * 2 = 6 4 * 2 = 8
5 * 2 = 10 6 * 2 = 12 7 * 2 = 14 8 * 2 = 16 9 * 2 = 18

Mutiplying by 3

The multiplication facts that you should know about multiplying by 3 are:

     0 * 3 = 0 1 * 3 = 3 2 * 3 = 6 3 * 3 = 9 4 * 3 = 12
5 * 3 = 15 6 * 3 = 18 7 * 3 = 21 8 * 3 = 24 9 * 3 = 27
