Christmas Wreath Coaster or Scrubbie

Materials:
For coaster - small amount of worsted weight cotton in green, red, and
white or natural
For scrubbie - small amount of Needleloft nylon yarn (for plastic canvas) in
green, red, and white or natural
For both: crochet hook size E
Gauge: Rounds 1-2 = 2
Finished size: About 4 1/4 across
Note: Coaster and scrubbie are both worked from the same pattern.
With white or natural, ch 4; join with a sl st to form ring
Round 1: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, work 11 more dc in ring; join with a
sl st to the top of the beginning ch 3. (12 dc)
Round 2: Ch 3 to count as the first dc, dc in the same st; work 2 dc in each
remaining dc around; join with a sl st to the top of the beginning ch 3. (24
dc) Fasten off white or natural.
Round 3: Join green with a sc in any dc; work a sc in each remaining dc
around; join with a sl st to the first sc. (24 sc)
Round 4: (Beading round) Ch 4 to count as the first dc and the first ch 1;
(dc, ch 1) in each remaining sc around; join with a sl st to the 3rd ch of the
beginning ch 4. (24 dc and 24 ch 1 sps)
Round 5: Ch 1, sc in the same st as joining; (5 dc in the next dc, sc in the
next dc) 11 times; 5 dc in the next dc; join with a sl st to the first sc. (12
shells)
Round 6: Sl st in each st around; join with a sl st to the first sl st. Fasten
off. Weave in ends.
Bow: With red, ch 100. Fasten off. Weave through beading round; tie in
small bow.
