Materials
Aunt Lydias Denim in 2 colors
(I used Olive for color A and Linen for color B)
Alternate yarn: 2 colors of worsted weight cotton
Crochet hook size I
Double-Thick Back Scrubber
With color A, ch 25
Row 1: Sc in the 3rd ch from hook, sc in each of the next 4 chs, 3 sc in the
next ch, sc in each of the next 4 chs, skip next 2 chs, sc in each of the next
4 chs, 3 sc in the next ch, sc in each of the next 4 chs, skip next ch, sc in
the last ch; ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Skip the first sc, sc in each of the next 5 sc, 3 sc in the next sc, sc in
each of the next 4 sc, skip the next 2 sc, sc in each of the next 4 sc, 3 sc in
the next sc, sc in each of the next 4 sc, skip the next sc, change to color B
as follows: insert hook in the last sc and pull up a loop, pull a loop of color B
through the two remaining loops of color A on the hook, knot the tail of
color B to color A to secure; ch 1, turn. Do not fasten off color A; instead
carry the unused color along the side of the piece.
Row 3: Skip the first sc, sc in each of the next 5 sc, 3 sc in the next sc, sc in
each of the next 4 sc, skip the next 2 sc, sc in each of the next 4 sc, 3 sc in
the next sc, sc in each of the next 4 sc, skip the next sc, sc in the last sc; ch
1, turn.
Row 4: Skip the first sc, sc in each of the next 5 sc, 3 sc in the next sc, sc in
each of the next 4 sc, skip the next 2 sc, sc in each of the next 4 sc, 3 sc in
the next sc, sc in each of the next 4 sc, skip the next sc, change to color A
as follows: insert hook in the last sc and pull up a loop, pull a loop of color A

the next sc, sc in each of the next 4 sc, skip the next sc, change to color A
as follows: insert hook in the last sc and pull up a loop, pull a loop of color A
through the two remaining loops of color B on the hook; ch 1, turn.
Rows 9-72: (Repeat rows 5-8) 16 times. Do not change to color A at the end
of row 72; instead sc in the last sc with color B. Fasten off both colors; tie
the tails of both colors together.
Finishing
Sew the stitches of row 72 to the stitches in the foundation chain to form a
wide tube.
Edging and Handles
Round 1: With color A, sc the back of the backscrubber to the front along
one side; ch 100 for the first handle, sc the back of the backscrubber to the
front along the other side; ch 100 for the second handle; join with a sl st to
the first sc.
Round 2: Ch 1, sc in the same st as joining and in each sc across, sc in each
of the next 100 chs, sc in each of the remaining scs, sc in the next 100
chs; join with a sl st to the first sc. Fasten off. Weave in ends.
Soap-on-a-Rope
Work as for back scrubber through row 24. Do not change to color A at the
end of row 24; instead sc in the last sc with color B. Fasten off both colors;
tie the tails of both colors together.
Finishing
Sew the stitches of row 24 to the stitches in the foundation chain to form a
tube. With color A, sc both thicknesses of the bottom (the side along which
you carried the unused yarn) together. Fasten off.
Top trim
Round 1: (Beading round) Attach color A with a sl st in the side of any st
along the top of the bag, ch 3 to count as the first dc, work 23 more dc
evenly around the top of the bag; join with a sl st to the top of the beginning
ch 3.
Rounds 2-4: Ch 1, sc in the same st as joining, sc in each of the next 23 sts
around; join with a sl st to the first sc. Fasten off after round 4. Weave in
ends.
Drawstring
With color A, ch 131. Sc in the 2nd ch from hook and in each ch across.
Fasten off. Weave in ends. Weave the drawstring through the beading round
on the bag; pull up a long loop in the back of the bag and secure with an
overhand knot. Insert soap and pull drawstring closed; tie in a bow.
Washcloth
With color A ch 47
Row 1: Sc in the 3rd ch from hook, sc in each of the next 4 chs, 3 sc in the
next ch, *sc in each of the next 4 chs, skip the next 2 chs, sc in each of the
next 4 chs, 3 sc in the next ch* repeat from * to * 2 times, sc in each of
the next 4 chs, skip next ch, sc in the last ch; ch 1, turn.
Row 2: Skip the first sc, sc in each of the next 5 sc, 3 sc in the next sc, *sc
in each of the next 4 sc, skip the next 2 sc, sc in each of the next 4 sc, 3 sc
in the next sc* Repeat from * to * 2 times, sc in each of the next 4 sc, skip
the next sc, change to color B as follows: insert hook in the last sc and pull
up a loop, pull a loop of color B through the two remaining loops of color A
on the hook, knot the tail of color B to color A to secure; ch 1, turn. Do not
fasten off color A; instead carry the unused color along the side of the piece.
