Iy is now June 1950 and we arrived in Sydney to start a new life. As we got off the ship in Pyrmont - that is where the "SS ORCADES" docked, we ventured into town to check this new city out... I must day that we were really disappointed, Australia was way behind Europe as well as England, I would say at least 30 years behind the rest of the civilized world as we knew it. My friend Milos Stangl who was in the college with me in GB was greatly disappointed just like myself so we decided to fly on to Brisbane which is 600 miles north of Sydney in the state of Queensland. When we got off the plane we found Brisbane to be just another "One horse town", perhaps like the wild west used to be in the USA a long time ago. So what do we do ? We get on the next plane back to civilization in Sydney.
