FOCUS:

Children and the other Parent is an entirely volunteer activist group working to promote the interests of non-custodial parents and their children in Utah. Our membership is composed of both men and women and non-custodial and custodial parents. Since over 80% of non-custodial parents are fathrs, our words may at times take on a fathers' favor, but we promote the interests of both mother and fathers and their children. We are based in Salt Lake City and are building chapters throughout Utah.

We work through legislative action, media attention, and judicial action. FOCUS members help to write legislation, testify before legislative committees, and contact legislators concerning critical bills. We conduct letter writing campaigns and work to attract media attention to the plight of non custodial parents. We feel that the general public is often unaware of our problems an attention is all to often focsed on "deadbeat parents" - we attenpt to countract this. We are currently working on a lawsuit on behalf of non-custodial parents. We prefer to be optimistic and whenever possible, build bridges rather than make enemies. Our meetings are open to the general public.
