| Who was San Fermin? | back to Fiesta of San Fermin | ||
The story got back to Pamplona, and he became a local hero and martyr. They started an annual Festival in his honor. Now everybody dances, drinks and parties into a stupor in his name. They're a very festive crowd here in Pamplona, and it's as good a reason as any to throw a big party for a week. There is also a beautiful procession down Calle Mayor in the Casco Viejo on the morning of July 7th .You shouldn't miss if you're in town on this day. If you're planning to run with the bulls, it's also tradition to sing a homily and say your prayers to the statue of San Fermin on the niche on the wall of the Cuesta of Santo Domingo, where the race begins. It's always a good idea before the bullrun to pray for protection and divine intervention to the powers that be. Every little bit helps. |
