Atlas Adventures
More Than Human

The Coward!

Hutch Hammer

Hello comic book readers!

I'm working on compiling a collection of old comic book stories, originally edited by the legendary Stan Lee, hopefully to be published sometime next year.  In the meantime, I think you'll enjoy some selections from among the hundreds I've read in search of the perfect anthology.  Most of these examples will not be in the collection, but they're a lot of fun anyway. Special thanks to Marvel for permitting me to show you these low-res, but readable pages.

By the way, I've prepared these pages for minimum download time at about 110K each.  If I receive a lot of e-mail asking for a higher resolution, I'll reconsider...but remember not everybody has a fast modem like yours.

More than Human: 6-page story edited by Stan Lee, drawn by Mort Lawrence, and scripted by an unknown writer.  Originally published in Uncanny Tales #19, 1953.  I think the SF/horror story is good...and the splash panel is terrific!

The Coward: 3-page story edited by Stan Lee, drawn by Mike Sekowsky, and scripted by an unknown writer.  Originally published in True Adventures #3, 1950.  Though not scripted by Stan, this story has a real "Marvel" flavor, right down to Sekowsky's Jack Kirby swipes.

Hutch Hammer: 6-page Ringo Kid story edited by Stan Lee, drawn by Joe Maneely and scripted by an unknown writer.  Originally published in Wild Western #43, 1955.  Typical of Maneely's outstanding art (he was equally good in any genre, including an imitation of "Dennis the Menace")...and doesn't Ringo resemble young Clint Eastwood?
