Me and Islam
I am 21 converted to Islam in June of 99. Just after my 21st birthday. I call it my Birthday gift from God(Allah) I studied Islam for 8 months before officially converting, but I lived as a muslim for a few weeks before that.
The Main Message
God is One, and no other is worthy of worship. Islam in about peace. What some call Islam and what some do in the name of God is not nessecarily Islam. Just as what happenes here in the USA isn't nessecarily Christian. Think before you follow the "crowd" And if you have a question about Islam or muslims- ask a knowledgable Muslim, not a Christian, if you have questions about Christianity, ask a Christian, not a Muslim- this goes for any faith or group.

Hijab

It's not about Hair,
the colour,
the length,
the style.
It's not about Arms,
or legs,
or hips,
or thighs.
It's not about Fashion,
like skirts,
like shorts,
like shirts,
like trends.
It's not about Skin,
the visible,
the bare,
the covered.
It's not about Colour,
"Black"
"White"
"Yellow"
"Brown"
It's not about Power,
control,
oppression,
fear.
It's not about Men,
Or Women.
It's about Faith,
Not Opinion.
Hijab or to some the veil that many Muslim women choose to wear is very misunderstood by Muslims and Non-Muslims alike. But My only request of anyone thinking that it means we muslim women are oppressed, or shackled, or enslaved by man, ask any muslim women who has CHOSEN to wear hijab, "Are you oppressed?" And she will surely answer "no, are you?"
