Matt Woodburn thanks everyone who bought an Abe Thomas or Julius Jones blanket!

The Julius Jones Federal Civil War Blanket

The Julius Jones Federal blanket is a 7' long, 5.5' wide, 2/2 twill, light brown body with small amounts of natural, blue and red shoddy and dark brown stripes, 100% wool blanket copied from the original carried by Pvt. Julius E. Jones of Company C, 14th Illinois Infantry during the Civil War. Private Jones was from Indian Point, Illinois and mustered into service on February 21, 1865 in Peoria County. According to official records he traveled to New York and then to Morehead City, N.C. where his newly formed company joined the consolidated veteran 14th and 15th Illinois Infantry regiments. His blanket is in the collection of the Marshall County Historical Society Museum in Lacon, Illinois. You can support Civil War Battlefield preservation! The Marshall County Historical Society and I give $5 from every blanket to battlefield preservation. For more information about Pvt. Julius Jones, the 14th Illinois Infantry, the reproduction Julius Jones blanket, the Marshall County Historical Society, and pictures of the original blanket, see the links at the bottom of this page.
