"Successful Lyric Writing" by Jason Blume
Bring song(s) for critique session on CD or cued tape, send MP3 via e-mail to Bob, or play live. Bring 10-15 copies of typed lyric sheets. NSAI members' songs are critiqued first. Non-members may receive song critiques if time allows.
Cost:
Free to NSAI members. Non-members may attend two meetings at no charge, then $15/meeting/person for two more meetings, then you must join NSAI to continue attending.

San Diego NSAI Workshop Events
The San Diego NSAI Regional Workshop holds regular monthly meetings the fourth Monday of the month from 7:30-10:00pm at the homes of San Diego regional workshop coordinators Liz Axford (coordinator 1992-present) in Del Mar, CA and Bob Duffy (coordinator 2005-present) in Poway, CA, alternating locations every other month. We do writing exercises supplied by the NSAI office in Nashville, as well as group song critiques. We do quarterly songwriter showcases at The Hot Java Cafe.
We also host special event seminars with pro-songwriters, artists, authors, and other music industry guests.

A History of The San Diego NSAI Workshop
The San Diego NSAI Workshop was formed in November of 1992 by Elizabeth C. Axford, San Diego Workshop Coordinator, after moving to San Diego as a result of Hurricane Andrew in Miami, FL in August of 1992. She had started the Miami NSAI Workshop in 1990, after joining NSAI in 1989. Her association through work with Paul Deakin, drummer for the Mavericks, helped to spark her interest in Nashville. She had always been a country music fan, and she felt much of the best songwriting of popular music was coming from Nashville. She wanted to learn from the source, so she ventured to Nashville.
A successful seminar on South Miami Beach with Raul Malo from the Mavericks, Rick Beresford, Pat Rogers and Katherine Dines in January of 1992 led to spin-off workshops in Ft. Lauderdale, Key West and the Cayman Islands. Those combined workshops are still going today as the South Florida area NSAI workshop, as is the San Diego workshop.
