One of my favorite hobbies is Amateur Radio. On the UHF and VHF in the L.A.
area I can be heard on the Hughes/Raytheon ARC 70cm Repeater 445.620- and the TRW
ARC 2m Repeater 145.320-. I also enjoy the HF bands listen for me on 10M
looking for 10-10 numbers (my 10-10 number is 64957), on 15M & 20M when there is GUD
DX and on CW QRP in the evening. So you can see all the fun I have with QRP
I have some pictures of my QRP Equipment on display in my
QRP photo album. Take a look!
In 1994 I led the St. Bernard High School SAREX contact team. This team
was made up of members from the HAC ARC and TRW ARC. We had a horizon to
horizon contact with the Space Shuttle Endeavor. If you would like to hear
a short Audio Clip from that contact Click on
SHUTTLE.WAV. (This is a 352K 45 Second .WAV File) For more information
on SAREX hot-link to the
SAREX Web Page.
RS12 & RS15 are "easy sats". These amateur satellites are in low earth
orbits and can be worked with a very modest station. RS12 is only about 150 Nautical
Miles up. RS15 is higher but has a larger range. I can be heard frequently
on these BIRDS duing the night time passes. AMSAT
has all the information you need to get you started in this exciting aspect
of Amateur Radio. It really is a HOT LINK!
I also enjoy watching visible satellites. Irridum "Flares" are my personal favorite. For more information
