About the Cattery

Welcome to Alkamie Abyssinians, a CFA registered cattery. My love affair with abys began in 1976 when my husband and I went to a Houston Cat Club Show. We were charmed by an aby at the show and decided we wanted one. From that time on, we've had at least one aby in our cat family.

The next important aby event in my life was in l996. I went to another Houston Cat Show and fell in love with a ruddy male abyssinian, GC, EC Fauve Chats Paying My Dues, being shown by Susan Baker. I begged Susan for a kitten out of "Dewey" and got my wish soon after. I agreed to show him in premiership (altered cats) and the rest is history.

I owe a debt of gratitude to Susan Baker, Cheetara Abyssinians, for trusting me with a beautiful aby to show and for her guidance, mentoring and friendship since that time. Thanks Susan for being generous with both your time and your beautiful cats!

Presently I have a small cattery so that I can maintain a high quality of life for my abys and so that I can give the time necessary to the moms and babies. My goal as a breeder is to improve the abyssinian breed, to have healthy cats and kittens, and to have some nice abys to show.
