1997 ACORD REGIONAL HORSE SHOW

and PEL-STATE GAMES

BATON ROUGE, LOUISIANA

October 11 was the day for an exciting "first-time" show in Baton Rouge, Louisiana. Local Manager Anita Hartzell put together a great competition, in conjunction with the USCPAA multi-sport PelState Games. The Baton Rouge Equestrian Center (BREC) was a most hospitable facility. Nora Grassmyer, Jane Walker, and Cliff Sudberry arrived early in the week to pull it all together.

Equitation was judged by Clifton Sudberry (CA), Obstacle by Nina French (LA) and Michelle Bergeron (LA) judged Futures. We also offered Pole Bending and a wild Costume Class. Our one Dressage rider performed a beautiful test. (We are confident of more dressage riders next year!) The weather cooperated, everything ran on time, and we were able to do some "fun" classes for volunteers and families as well, thanks to Rickie Bergeron.

Saturday night's Award Ceremonies found us enjoying fried chicken and dancing to the rock & roll band SCARAB. All participants were most pleased with the show, and vow to bring twice as many riders next year!

PelState/ACORD Regional Horse Show for 1998 is December 5 at BREC in Baton Rouge, Louisiana.
