Hello! My name is Brett Hadley and thank you for taking a moment to get a cyber-introduction from me. Meeting people, either on tour or through our website here, is one of the great joys that comes from directing a drama team. So please, drop us an email even if it’s just to say “Hi!”
A little about me; I began my life in theatre through something of an accident. I was hired as Program Director at a Christian summer camp in the 1989 where the Camp Director told me to, “have all the scripts for evening programs ready when you get here.” I took that to mean, well, that I should write them, so I did. Later I discovered he meant for me to find scripts and buy them, but it was really God putting His hand in my life and nudging me in the direction He wanted me to go. I’ve never been more thankful for any other blessing.
After working as Program Director for several summer camps, I began teaching Bible, Journalism and Theatre on the high school level. I started the ACT drama team my first year teaching and have continued it for the past twelve years.
Three of those twelve years were while I served as a Youth Pastor in California. While in California I went back to school and took a two year degree in American Sign Language (which we have always used in our drama presentations) and finally completed my MFA in Theatre at the University of California, Davis.
Along the way I’ve had a few of my scripts published by Zondervans and Youth Specialties and have had the honor of seeing many of the ACT scripts performed by drama ministries around the world.
So, there’s a very brief glimpse at my life in theatre ministry. It is my hope and continual prayer that ACT can be a support to all ministries, so let us know how we can be a part of yours!
