hYdra

a program for editing hetrodyne analysis files for CSound
© Malte Steiner, 1998,1999

You can edit the harmonics visually by adjusting each of their breakpoints or
shape their whole spectrum with the new module.

But remember: you need cSound for analysing and resynthesizing the sounds. Download:
Here are the versions for Windows on PC:
the 16 Bit version(v1.1f): click hydra.zip (83k) for Windows 3.x and above, or
the 32 Bit version(v1.1f): click hydra32.zip(19k) for Windows 9X.

Here are the versions (v1.20) for every platform which supports Java:
zipped (Mainly for PC and Mac):hydraj.zip (140k)
tar+gzip (Mainly for Unix): hydraj.tar.gz (100k).

Here are Java commandoline tools (v1.20):
zipped:hTools.zip(8k)
tar+gzip:hTools.tar.gz(6k)
These standalone tools provides console operations derieved from hYdra like generating spectra (type java generate for help), average frequency envelopes (java smooth) and export to discreete cSound orchester files (java orchester).

Later versions will include more editors and more....
See current editors of the GUIversion as screenshots.

Installation / Deinstallation
This program didn't use any hidden dlls, registry entrys etc... Just unpack it into a directory of your choice.
Windows: These compressed files contains the exe file and the help documentation. When you start hYdra it will create a hydra.ini file in your window directory in which it holds the names of the last opened files. Upgrade a new hYdra version by just overwrite the old exe and help file. It will grap the old ini and use it.

Java: This version is 1.20 which introduces a new feature, the generation of cSound orchestra files and discreete sinus oscils instead of adsyn. But this may lead to big orchestras which can't be handled by cSound (mem allocation errors) but with 10 or 20 harmonics it works for me, check it out, later versions will provide more control over it.
On Unix or Windows you start it with typing java hydra, ..of course you need JDK runtime for running Java applications.
On Mac you need the Program JBindery to start java applications, it comes with the MRJ SDK by Apple
