The founders lacked a central facility but struggled on by taking the orphaned pets into their own residences and with their own resources cared for the animals until they could be placed in carefully screened, loving homes.
In 1982 a newly expanded Board of Directors began intensive fundraising and organizational development efforts.
Our membership has grown to more than 1600 concerned members and volunteers who now support the humane work being realized.
In 1985, special funds were made available to purchase an existing zoned kennel facility on 2.6 acres. Finally, we had a permanent and centralized home for our animals; the Roye Levin Adopt-A-Pet Centre was born.
In 1991, an adjacent 2.5 acres were purchased for future expansion where we shall construct a modern, "state of the art" pet residence and adoption centre.
We now face the challenge of raising funds for our new project - a goal
we hope to achieve with the help of our members and of our community. We
will eventually be able to save hundreds more lives annually and provide
a multitude of additional services to pets and pet owners. Write

This wonderful little book has many personal anecdotes and published news stories about acts of kindness by animals and one chapter about people who helped animals.
It includes the documented stories about the two gorillas who gently saved two children who fell into gorilla exhibits on separate occasions, and Scarlett the cat who repeatedly ran into the burning house to save her kittens.
There are many more stories in this fine book. This is an inspiring little book that deserves to be read by as many people as possible.
The importance of Spaying and Neutering.
Although an unpleasant topic, spaying and neutering is important for
pets in modern cities.
