Designed to both correct skeletal structural deformities and provide an increase in walking function, the brace offers the potential of normal walking to many disabled individuals. Among the possible applications are the bracing for physical limitations resulting from polio, stroke, cerebral palsy, and many others diseases. The unique design is an incremental improvement over existing bracing systems. It incorporates the two elements necessary for successful bracing: correction force systems and increased function. Both elements are necessary to significantly improve the walking function.
Easy to put on and remove, the brace has other important benefits. The release of the energy stored during walking also negates the weight of the brace as well as part of the weight of the leg. The unique closed system also allows the foot to adapt from side to side for walking on uneven surfaces such as grass. The Double Helix Orthosis is currently being patented.
DynamicBracingSolutions' composite orthoses come in all shapes and sizes. No two devices or solutions are exactly alike. As each person has unique needs, each solution must be developed specifically for the goal of efficient and secure walking with consideration of lifestyle requirements. Outcomes once thought unobtainable are now possible.
