Bilingual Human Service Agency Serving San Mateo County
Freedom from addiction exists for everyone.

Background

El Centro de Libertad was created by a group of individuals dedicated to sharing the gift of recovery throughout the community. We are a bilingual (Spanish/English) and bicultural agency. We provide services to all people and have a special outreach to the Hispanic/Latino community. Cultural differences, as well as the similarities, pertaining to recovery from addiction are explicity addressed.

Staff

The staff is a team of highly trained professionals that provide a recovery program designed to meet the individual needs of clients and their families. We believe that our culturally diverse staff will meet the needs of the community. El Centro de Libertad staff is committed to ongoing training and continuing education to increase their knowledge and skills.

Alcohol & Polydrug Outpatient Services

Groups are designed to provide cognitive and behavioral restructuring and education associated with recovery and relapse work. Our program will begin with a client assessment, followed by an appropriate referral to one or more of our services: individual counseling, support and 12-step groups.

Phase I: The Alcohol & Polydrug Education groups will inform participants about:

  • The "disease model"
  • Family dynamics in addiction
  • Physical consequences
  • Relapse prevention
  • How to live without alcohol and drugs to lead meaningful and productive lives.
Phase II: Focus on Specific Individual Needs--Clients will continue to receive our core treatment of individual counseling support and 12-step groups, and additional workshops.

Latin Services

Our sevices will be provided in Spanish for the Latin community. These programs will be culturally sensitive to the client's needs. Spanish speaking staff will always be available.

HIV Testing & Support

HIV testing is confidential and anonymous. Support groups will be available in both Spanish and English.

Fees

Fees are based on a sliding scale. No one seeking recovery will be turned away for lack of funds.

Funded in part by San Mateo County Department of Alcohol and Drug recovery services.

Service is provided without discrimination on the basis of race, religion, national origin, age, marital status, political or union affiliation, gender, sexual orientation, or disability.
