Browser Tips

Many people get to the Online Friends pages (or any other page) after changes have been made but they do not see the changes; instead, they see the page they saw the last time they visited that page.

This is because you are NOT viewing the page on the web, but rather, you are viewing the page as it sits on your computer (in a temporary area). Always keep in mind that anything you see on a web page is SITTING ON YOUR COMPUTER SOMEWHERE.

So, how do you get to see the NEW page?

If you are on AOL, above your browser and to the left you will see the following icons:

To Get A New Page, hold the Control Key down (Ctrl) and click on the Refresh arrow above (the clockwise curved arrow), next to the house icon. If you have Internet Explorer, hold the Control Key down (Ctrl) and click on the Refresh Icon.

In AOL 6.0 the icons are labeled. The curved arrow is marked Reload (just had to be different). To get a new page, hold down the Control key and click this arrow.

If you have Netscape, you're on your own, but I'm sure it's close to the actions described here.

To Change Permanently the way you view web pages, if you are in AOL, go to My AOL, choose Preferences, then click on WWW.

To do this in Internet Explorer, right click on the Internet Explorer icon and choose Preferences.

The following Dialog will open up:

You want to go to the center section, Temporary Internet Files, and click on Settings.

The following Dialogue will open:

As you can see, I prefer the Automatically choice. This will work for you MOST of the time. However, to be perfectly sure, click on Every visit to the page. That will surely do it.
