online and some are available on (especially if they are listed
as being 74 minutes or less in length)
NOTE: Airchecks of the WIOQ/'98 WCAU-FM Hot Hits Radio Reunion
are available in scoped form. Tape one, covering the first five hours of the reunion,
is available for $10 (scoped to 90 minutes). It includes all the jock talk, jingles, and
classic 98 CAU FM airchecks, as well as any parody songs they aired (such as "Talk Like
a Philadelphian")
They gave out a limited number of posters showing the Hot Shots old publicity photos
Scoped airchecks of Z-100's 15th Anniversary reunion are available
as well.
Scoped airchecks of the Z100 14th (1997) and 15th (1998) Reunions are becoming available as well.
WODE-99.9 in the Allentown/Lehigh Valley had a reunion 2/26-28/1999; recordings were made
at 50 miles onto VHS tape in 6 or 8 hour increments.

THE CENTRAL JERSEY AIRCHECK ARCHIVES: a collection of mostly scoped compilations of New York City and other markets radio stations dating from the mid 1970's to the present. Typical tape prices for dubs are in the $10 range which is cheaper than on other planets.

SPECTRUM: CJA was the official provider of tapes of the radio
program "Spectrum," which was aired on international
shortwave WWCR, as well as on a few U.S. stations
(see http://spectrum.orn.com/
for their list of affiliates).
Click here for a List of shows from
1997 that were once available. (the 800 # you
see on Spectrum's web page is CJA's orders-only phone number).
THE MIKE JARMUS PROGRAM On November 30, 1997, CJA became the official provider of tapes of The Mike Jarmus / Reality and Beyond Program. Mike is a talk show host who deals with paranormal, highly scientific or unexplained phenomena and recently featured a show on the "Philadelphia Experiment". The show is produced by the Omega Radio Network and was carried on WWCR - 5.070 Mhz international Shortwave at 10pm Eastern Time Sunday Night (0300 Monday UTC). Copies of the show recorded at the studio or from Real Audio (rather than off the shortwave radio) can be obtained for $12 (NEW LOWER PRICE!), each thru CJA (and the price includes postage and handling). Any future sales will benefit Rod Coppola's children. For more information on Mike Jarmus shows and guests see the new Mike Jarmus web site where a description of all shows they've aired is kept up to date.
UNSCOPED TAPES OF RADIO STATIONS: Locally: a large number of New York City, central New Jersey, and Philadelphia radio stations can be recorded at your request, at prices much more competitive than other aircheck services. click here for a list of the most commonly requested stations. Big Apple Bytes were periodically issued, finely edited ("Scoped")
tapes sampling Z100 and other New York City stations, sometimes
including central Jersey and/or Philadelphia radio stations in the early 90's.
Back issues are available from most of the 90's. More about the history of Big apple bytes
is available here History
Or, for a PARTIAL list of Big Apple Bytes tapes, and a quick synopsis of their contents, click here Partial List
OTHER PROJECTS: CJA has been there to capture the format changes and special programs aired in New York City radio, such as the station anniversaries (i.e. Z100's 14th anniversary, run one summer), reunions, stunt formats (WZVU as "TV Radio"; WMXV as "Broadway 105"), people's first or last day (Ron Lundy's last shows on WCBS-FM, and Dan Daniel's first in midday) and the like, but not Y107 drops country for spanish.
OLD TIME RADIO: While the Central Jersey Aircheck Archives don't really contain any Fibber McGee and Molly, some OTR fans also like WOR's legendary storyteller Jean Shepherd, and the Archives do contain some tapes of his shows; click here for the list of Jean Shepherd tapes
EMPLOYMENT SERVICES: If you're online, you've taken a big step towards finding yourself a new radio job. Find the radio boards (radioinfo, FMQB, allaccess for starters) and chat rooms, go there and schmooze. Let them know who and where you are, and what you want to be doing. (To be brutally harsh, you have to do more of the work to find yourself that radio job, even if I am listed as Employment Service in the RR&D. That's because they lump, they lump, its in their head that airchecks and employment services belong together. You don't just submit your name and start doing PM Drive in Wichita two weeks out of broadcast school. (Besides didn't your broadcast school promise "lifetime placement" or did they just promise "my station went satellite" counseling?) That is to say that CJA no longer directly helps you find a job.
