If you have been here before,
you will notice that the page has been completely
overhauled at the end of 1998. All slides have been rescanned and over 100 new
images have been added, into three page categories, including thumbnail photos.
The photos represent pictures of
aircraft in various stages of storage, conversion,
and/or dismantlement. Most pics were shot during the mid-80s and many of these
aircraft are "long gone". The vast majority of the of these aircraft were
located in
the Desert Southwest at airports such as Marana (MZJ) and Davis-Monthan AFB
(DMA) in Tucson. Other aircraft were parked at Mohave (MHV) and Las Vegas (LAS).
The sport of crawling around these
old birds has definitely changed over the past
10+ years. Marana is sealed-up, Davis-Monthan no longer offers all-day photo tours,
Las Vegas' fences are higher than ever, and the people at Mohave are nastier than ever
with BAD attitudes. Mohave used to be a friendly place, but not
anymore...
Note: The airlines listed depict the last recognizable operator in
the photo,
and perhaps not the owner of the aircraft at the time the picture was taken.
