History of Television Technology(~1880-1955)How did television as we know it today come to be? For over 100 years, engineers and scientists have been developing and assembling the components that make up the present TV system. While today's HDTV is a long way from the tiny, wobbly 24-line pictures of the 1920s, the lineage is clear. This site, while continuously evolving itself, will attempt to show how the technology has progressed from the earliest theories to the fulfillment of the present day system (which occurred by about 1955). Presently this site is mostly links to other sites, but more engineering-related material will be added as time goes on.
