About the Author
Gary Brown is a magic historian, collector and freelance writer. He has
written more than two dozen articles about magicians, spiritualists, gamblers
and carnival performers for popular and magicians trade magazines including American
Heritage, Invention & Technology, Emmy and Audacity.
His first book, The Coney Island Fakir, a biography of sideshow magician
Al Flosso, appeared in 1997. "Grand Illusions," a
fifty-part series on the history of magic produced for The Discovery Channel and
released on DVD, showcases Mr. Brown as an expert on the history of magic.
He has also appeared as a commentator on A&E, NBC-TV, Court TV, Discovery
Health and National Public Radio.
The Coney Island Fakir is Mr. Brown's first book.
