an opening 1C (or, even more rarely, an opening 1D) may be made on a 3 card suit

2C: 23+ pts; except when opener repeats C on round 2, shows 21_ pts 5+C and 8+ playing tricks

2D/H/S: strong, shows 18+ pts, 5+ in suit bid, and 8+ playing tricks

2NT: balanced 20-22 pts
       3C: stayman
       3D/H: transfer

3NT: not bid
