Here are pictures sent to me via E-mail. I've added a few pics of my own to correspond with those E-mailed to me. The first picture in each group is the one I had E-mailed to me. The others are ones I took.
Here's pictures looking north near the reservour. I've only seen the appoach signal twice and only when the Q-508 beats the Q-272 through Deshler.
Clear indication track 2 at West Deshler. Sometimes called Deshler Diamonds.
Here are pictures of the Crossroads Park. My two favorite railfans are in the last picture. The K9 railfans!
I have saved the best for last. On September 24, 1999, I went to Deshler. At midnight I had planned to celebrate my birthday with other railfans under a full moon. I had both scanners in my minivan cranked up plus I had one of my portables with me. From previous experience I know a full moon means scanner action, usually police. Tonight it was to be railroad and police action. Just before midnight the S-500-24 started around the SW Wye. As it's last car, empty LP tanker, came around, it derailed. The front truck hopped the rail at Mulbury Street. It then crashed into the Keyser Ave. asphalt, shown in the second picture.
My big question is how did the internet picture taker know where the train derailed. Has this picture taker been here before? How did he know I had pictures to accompany his? Stay tuned to this web page for further updates and hopefully we can solve this mystery!
