Divination: This is the process of gaining information from reading palms, tea leaves, tarot cards, rune stones, etc., or gazing into a crystal ball, candle flame, pool of water -- what have you. It's not a science or a religion, but you have to have some faith in the reader's psychic abilities (i.e., sensitivity to vibes that are present but not detectable to everyone, kind of like a dog's accute sense of smell or hearing) in order to benefit from the divining.
The objects used in divination are merely tools that the reader uses to focus his/her thoughts -- they are not magical objects in and of themselves. It is my opinion that everyone has psychic abilities, but some people are totally unaware of them and so they are dormant. Those who are aware of their psychic abilities sometimes refer to it as intuition. But as with any skill, practice makes perfect. If you want to learn more about divination (particularly with Tarot cards, which are the most common tools), here are some Internet sites to check out:
www.facade.com This site allows you to do your own readings and will give you the interpretations of the cards that are dealt. For each card, there are several possible meanings (including when they come out upsidedown, or what they call "ill dignified") -- you choose the meaning that makes the most sense with respect to your particular situation. Oh, and when asked to choose a deck to use, I would start with the Rider-Waite Tarot.
Tarot by Toni Toni offers tarot readings online or over the phone. She told me I would soon win a big lottery jackpot (just kidding). But seriously, this is a real reader.
Of course, you can always do an Internet search for tarot sites, but these are two that I've already checked out. I'll be adding more as I find them.
If you happen to be an AOL member, go to KEYWORD: TAROT. This will take you to the Horoscopes area, where you can get all kinds of horoscopes as well as tarot readings. Click on Crystal Ball for information about tarot and then click on Astronet and then Astronet index and then Readings to get into the tarot area.
