Ready to Spin Fibers

We carry a variety of luxury, ready-to-spin fiber blends. These blends are made up of the very best fibers that I can find, mostly exotic types, including Alpaca, Camel, Merino Wool, Silk, and of course Angora.
I blend several different fibers to take advantage of the best properties that each individual fiber has. For example, merino is the finest of the sheep wools. It has good elasticity and shape memory (it will return to its original shape easily after washing - something we all consider a plus in a sweater). Add silk, which is very smooth and strong and has a wonderful luster, then finally add angora (now, I bet that was a surprise to you, right??) which is soft, very warm, and fuzzes with that luxurious nap that angora is famous for. The yarn that you spin from this blend will combine the advantages of all three fibers, and will be much more versatile than one spun from any of the fibers singly.

After choosing the fibers to be blended together, they are carded and the resulting roving is wrapped into a convenient cylinder shape called a bump. These bumps usually weigh between 6 to 8 ounces each. They arrive at your door all ready for you to sit down and spin.
