Based in Rochester, Minnesota, Mark Diedrich is a singer and
songwriter, guitarist and harmonicat. He blends the folk and
country rock flavors of the early Byrds and Buffalo Springfield
with his own original writing and vocalizing--and in his large
catalog of original material you could see that he is almost
Americana music personified. He enjoys playing a 12-string Rickenbacker
like Roger McGuinn to capture that Byrdsy jangle which so captured
him when he first heard "Mr. Tambourine Man." He also
loves to drench his music in pedal steel guitar, harmonica and
Neil Young-style guitar solos. When working on his first CD it
seemed to him and producer, James Cardinal, that the sounds and
instrumentation closely resembled that of early Byrd Chris Hillman
on the latter's 1998 CD, "Like A Hurricane" (Sugar
Hill Records). Mark has spent most of his life working on his
music, although it took a backseat to his writing and publishing
of books on American Indians of the upper Midwest region of the
United States (See Amazon.com book section). In recent years
he has returned to the stage of southeastern Minnesota coffeehouses,
and his first CD, entitled "Something Tells Me," will
be available in August 2000.
