Peach Blossoms
from an EQ Baltimore Album Swap

Designed by Alexandra of Naples, Italy

approx. 10½" x 10½" finished

I just had to share with you a little mini wallhanging that I made from a design from an EQ swap.  Sorry, but I cannot share the project files with you.  The project files are the property of the participants of the swap.  Join a swap or a challenge; you  will end up with some pretty wonderful designs. I've also used the motifs on notecards and birthday cards.

In January of 2002, Wendy from Australia hosted a Baltimore Album and Floral Appliqué challenge.  We were to design a Baltimore Album block and/or a Floral Appliqué motif in Electric Quilt 4.0 and submit them to Wendy who put all the designs into project files and then gave each participant all the designs.

I was in need of a small mini-quilt wallhanging for my kitchen to cover up a "sore spot". When I saw Alexandra's design, I just knew that was "it"...especially since my kitchen is in peach and teal.  I used some hand-dyed fabric  leftover from a wallhanging that I had made.

I printed out the design from EQ as 6" square, so the motifs are pretty small!  There are a variety of techniques used on the little mini.  I used a machine-sewn method of redwork/bluework to create the outline of the tree branches.   All the blossoms and buds are hand-appliquéd.  Did a bit of hand embroidery on the blossoms.  The teal center of the largest peach blossom is a yo-yo.  Oh, and yes, there is some hand quilting.  I think the peach border makes it look Oriental.
