Tips

To preserve documents: put 2 tablets of milk of magnesia and a quart of club soda in container, mix them together and put in refrigerator for at least 8 hours. Then put solution in shallow pan and let documents soak for an hour. Remove and place between sheets of paper towels, gently blot. Allow to air dry. Good for old newspaper clippings.

Archival materials: GLASSINE, an inexpensive acid-free paper-like material used as lining and interleaving to separate documents stored in stacks. Any good art supply warehouse should have acid-free paper, glue, tape, scrap-books. [tip by: Pamela Cresswell]
