Here are a few of my favorites.

I met Jim Cullen at a train show in Oct. of 2000. While we had spoken before, and I'd even visited his site, I never got around to linking him on this page... I hope this makes-up for it. Jim has an n-scale layout, modest in size, but well detailed. His "Elizabeth & Austin Division" of the PRR is an example of how the hobby can be enjoyed without going to excess... it's a nice site and worth a look. |

Jim & Margaret Mansfield, like Paul Templar (below) write for MODEL RAILROADING magazine. These two listings are purely co-incidental... if I don't "favor" a site it doesn't make it on my personal favorites page. Again, these folks model in "HO"... while I model in "N-scale", I have no scale preference myself... I'm far more involved with the quality of a model than the size of it. This is an information-packed site... give it a look when you have the time. |

Paul Templar is a gent from Britian who builds model railroads like some of us simply build models... and like the "Energizer Bunny" they keep coming, and coming, and coming. His latest is a logging effort in HO scale, Paul's work is published regularly in MODEL RAILROADING magazine. |
The
"mysterious" "Weathering Doctor" has just published an interesting home
page, complete with plenty of hints, and some fine photos too! Until
recently graduating from "Chalkfore U." he was simply known as the "Weathering
Guy".... his folks must be soooo proud! A fine website by an equally
fine modeler... give it a look.
Ken Spranza's Homepage may not ring a bell.... and it IS basically an "HO" oriented site. Why look? Ken photographs great model rilroads he has visited, and lets us share in his efforts. Wanna see the work of Dick Elwell or George Sellios on the web?... this must be da place... because this is where you can find them. Even Ken's own railroad is featured... not the "quantity", but the "quality" (according to Ken)... and he's not kidding. WELL WORTH AN EXTENDED VISIT!
Earl Smallshaw has been sharing his efforts with almost
50 years of authoring expertise. He has not only influenced my modeling
in a big way, but has been largely influential in the modeling efforts
of George Sellios & Mike Tylick among countless others. This
railroad is "HO" scale, but do yourself a favor and spend some time with
this site, it is by one of the masters of the hobby!
Bob
Russell's California modeling is second to none. From orange groves
to palm trees Bob does it all. Bob also features a "Picture Of The Week",
contact Bob to get your photo on the web ! Another great "N"-Scale layout
!
Bob
Batson has a page filled with information on how to operate your railroad.
Great graphics, a nifty opening tune, and contributions by other experienced
modelers makes this page a must visit ! N-Scale.
"THE
KINGSBURY BRANCH" is the work of master modeler Bill Denton. Bill captured
the cover of Model Railroader recently with this masterpiece! If you like
hand-laid track, and fantastically detailed scenes few other railroads,
of any scale, can compare with Bill's efforts. N-Scale.
Regardless
of the size of your railroad this site will have something of interest
for you. Great photography combined with a healthy combination of city
and rural scenes form together to make a terrific railroad. This is a layout
in France, modeled in the area of upstate N.Y. , home of the NYO&W
and Susquehanna, a new and very welcomed site by a terrific modeler.
Mike
Tylick has been authoring articles in MR and other leading publications
for many years. He is known for his "HO" scale Fitchburg & Southbridge
RR as well his his work in "O" scale. If you should have any questions
on detailing, painting, or even photography Mike is the fellow to ask.

on this link to ask Mike any questions you may have .
Clayton
Barry's Athabasca Railroad page
offers a full tour, from his articles in N-Scale Magazine, to panaromic
views of his work. This site is best viewed when you have the time to relax
and enjoy it.
LONG
ISLAND MODEL R.R. ENGINEERS - This Long Island, NY, club is one of
the largest around. Although the web page is still in its' infancy it's
easy to see why this club, which features "HO, HOn3", "N-scale", and "Nn3"
is well worth a visit. This 4000 sq. ft. club can be contacted through
the site, stop by if you're in town!
Buckshot &
Buzzard Butte Railway- Once in a great while somebody comes along with
the talents of a John Olson or a Malcolm Furlow, and re-defines "space"
as we normally conceive it. At an overall size of 24"x30" this terrific
n-scale effort just goes to prove that bigger doesn't always have
to mean better! Give it a look... I'm sure that you'll agree!
The
"New
River Subdivision of the Chesapeake & Ohio" is oriented as much
to the prototype as it is to the modeling of this specific railroad and
its' operations. An effort of "Northern-Virginia" N-Trak, this group takes
a cutting edge approach to modeling in "N" scale
This
is a truly strange and wonderful website, more like a visit to "Fantasyland"
than a modeling experience, the "Model Railroading Magic" website has unbelieveable
graphics, and is long on both the philosophy and creative aspects of model
railroading. If you should stop by, you probably won't be prepared
to examine the whole site! ...this indeed is the model railroader's version
of "Alice's Looking Glass".
Chris
Butler is a Canadian with a strong liking for the work of U.S. modelrs
like Mike Tylick & George Sellios.... not unlike myself.
Be forewarned... THIS IS AN "HO" SCALE WEBSITE... so if you're scale concious
(and I hope you're not), you won't find any "N" scale doings on this fine
website. Chris is undergoing an evolution on his layout, moving in
the general direction of the density and details of some of the finest
city model builders around, but, it is a growing process... visit
the site, I think you'll be able to see the focus which he has incorporated
into his modeling efforts!
It's
not a habit of mine to "plug" manufacturers, BUT... small companies producing
quality products merit an exception. Showcase Miniatures produces
terrific structures, vehicles, and an occassional other oddity. Give
this site a look. I use and endorse these products.
