Chu Lai Airbase - circa 1968 - This base was the headquarters for the Americal Division and I Corps during the Vietnam War. I was a young soldier stationed on a hill overlooking the base for about 6 months in 1968. I have developed this scenery as historically accurately as I could so that other old soldiers like me can tour their wartime "digs" without actually going there. We don't want to fight the war again but as most old soldiers do, would like to revisit the places of our youth. In addition to the 9 runways and helipads on the base 50 of the surrounding LZs are included. To see some actual photos of the Chu Lai area in 1968 and also read the my story click the Vietnam button at the top of the page.

Click Here to go to Al's Vietnam Map page where you can view and download marked maps of Chu Lai. Low resolution maps are included in the zip but the ones at this location are much larger. This is highly recommended unless your memory is a lot better than mine.
