Billy and Katie Click were married about 1850 in Cocke Co. Tennessee. Due to the fire at the courthouse there are no marriage records for them. We are basing the year on the death of Billy's first wife, Phoebe Gray on 11 September 1849 and the birth of their first child Elizabeth 20 July 1851.Sometime between 20 Jul 1851 and 28 Nov 1852 they moved from Newport, Cocke Co. Tennessee to Madisonville, Monroe Co. Tennessee where they lived the rest of their lives. They lived through the Civil War with threats of their lives & children and their home being burned. Grandpa was supporting the Union of which he provided them with many items plus helping Union soldiers passing through Monroe Co. with General Sherman's troops. He gave money to two of his oldest sons, James Gray Click and William Reginald Click to travel to Kentucky where they were to join the Union Army. They lived in a log house on their 500 + acres in the "Soak" community about 10 miles East of Madisonville. The Tellico River passed through a section of their property,  and they had built their home on one side and barn and crops on the other. A portion of that land is now submerged under the Tellico Lake Project. They deeded a portion of the farm for their family cemetery, where there are about 69 graves, 40 of which are unmarked.  I have personally visited this cemetery on two occasions just this year. It is overgrown badly and we are planning to restore it so we all can visit easily. The farm was inherited by the youngest daughter, Ruth Sherman Click, and later one of her son's LAWRENCE BOYD CLICK, owned the farm before his death in 1974. Katie was born 17 October 1818 in Tennessee. She died 28 Oct 1886. They're tombstones are still intact. Many of their descendants are still residing in Tennessee.
