LOCATED IN TEXAS CO. MISSOURI

THE MURR'S WERE A RESOURCEFUL FAMILY. THEY HOMESTEADED IN TEXAS CO. MISSOURI ABOUT 1869, AFTER SPENDING ABOUT 6 YEARS IN ANNIE, UNION CO., ILLINOIS, HAVING LEFT MONROE COUNTY, TENNESSEE IN 1863 DURING THE CIVIL WAR.

THEY BUILT A 2 STORY LOG HOUSE, WHICH NO LONGER EXISTS, AND HAD THIS ROAD NAMED AFTER THEM, ALONG WITH A CHURCH, CEMETERY, & SCHOOL. MANY MEMBERS AND DESCENDANTS OF THIS FAMILY ATTENDED THESE FAMILY CENTERS FOR CHURCH, WEDDINGS, FUNERALS AND EDUCATION.  MANY OTHER FAMILY MEMBERS JOINED THEM IN TEXAS COUNTY  FROM MONROE CO. TENNESSEE AND ARE BURIED IN THE CEMETERY. MANY OF THEIR DESCENDANTS & ALLIED FAMILIES DESCENDANTS STILL RESIDE IN TEXAS COUNTY AS WELL.

NANCY HELVEY'S LINE INTERMARRIED WITH THE SISTER OF RACHEL CLICK MURR, DORCAS CLICK DENTON. MANY OF OUR FAMILY MEMBERS MARRIED THEIR COUSINS, LEAVING US A LEGACY OF COUSINS TO THEMSELVES!!! NOT UNCOMMON IN MANY OF OUR FAMILY LINES. SURE MAKES GENEALOGY INTERESTING WHEN TRYING TO SORT IT ALL OUT.

Jeremiah Murr & Rachel Click's son, >William Murr/Lucinda Hinkle daughter,> Laura Anna Murr married Alpherd Denton & Dorcas Click's son, >Jackson Denton/Nancy Ann Ragsdale's son,> Alfred Edward Denton. Did ya get all that???? Yes, they're cousins!!!

Rachel & Dorcas were sisters and the daughters of HENRY JACKSON CLICK & RUTH _____, sisters of my William Columbus/Monroe Click.

THE MURR SCHOOL as it stands today in Texas Co.  MO. The chalk boards are still intact. It sits on land next to the Warren Ragsdale farm, who is grandson of Edward Grief Ragsdale and Sarah Elizabeth Pesterfield. Edward Grief is brother to Nancy Ann Ragsdale who married Jackson Denton, son of Alpherd Denton and Dorcas Click. (I took photo on my recent trip to Texas Co. MO, such a lovely place to visit)

Inside the MURR CHURCH in Texas Co. MO. It stands today next to the MURR CEMETERY. Many a family gathering took place in this historic little church. It definitely would be an asset to have it preserved on the National Register of Historic Places.

Jeremiah & Rachel's final resting place in the MURR CEMETERY, Texas Co. MO,  after their long journey from Washington County, Tennessee>Cocke Co. Tenn>Monroe Co. Tenn>Annie, Union Co. Illinois>Texas Co. MO. A long, historic, and hard journey they endured, travel being difficult and treacherous, building and rebuilding as they pressed Westward.  Living through the Pioneer days of settling America,  they have left a long legacy of descendants East to West in the good ole USA.
