Careers in the Visual Arts WebQuest & Multimedia Group Project
Developed by Barbara Hughes bhughes @smuhsd.k12.ca.us

Overview: Students will explore a variety of career opportunities in the art field, conduct research, gather information, summarize findings, and create an informative brochure and multimedia presentation to increase the awareness of job opportunities and / or careers in the visual arts. Students will begin to understand the world of work, think meaningfully about their own career choices and realize the Internet is a powerful tool to help guide individuals preparing for a career.

In this age of information, Careers in the Visual Arts WebQuest & Multimedia Group Project is a significant technology-based project linking students to hundreds of career education-related sites. Students will make real-world connections as they utilize the resources of Internet and software tools to create a multimedia presentation. This infusion of technology will help students be better prepared for the 21st century as they improve their critical thinking and problem solving skills, increase information literacy and fortify inquiry-based instruction. The implementation of technology will help meet the diverse needs and learning styles of students.

The primary goal of the Careers in the Visual Arts WebQuest & Multimedia Group Project is to uphold Aragon High School's commitment to career exploration and preparing the youth of San Mateo County to face the global workforce challenges of the 21st century as well as improving the quality of education and of youth through the use of technology. This project was designed to promote growth in the arts as well as reinforce the development of vocabulary, listening, speaking, reading, writing, research and technological skills for all students.
