The goal of the Arag
Careers in the Visual Arts
WebQuest & Multimedia Group Project
Developed by Barbara Hughes bhughes

Imagine that ...
The National Endowment for the Arts, a high-profile national
arts organization, has hired your advertising firm to investigate
and report on the essential features of career opportunities
in the arts and how modern or emerging technology impact the
visual arts to motivate the next generation of artists. Your
design team will explore the wide range of art-related occupations
(such as: landscape designer, medical illustrator, advertising
artiest, art educator, set designer, fashion designer, filmmaker,
graphic designer, art therapist, furniture designer, greeting
card designer, animation artist, or city planner). Each design
team will select one visual arts related career in which to concentrate,
conduct research and find the facts: including the job description,
salary, training, skills, and other factors needed to determine
how modern or emerging technologies that affect or will affect
the visual arts. Each team will summarize their findings, bringing
greater awareness of careers opportunities and the impact of
technologies in the visual arts by creating an attractive brochure
and informative multimedia presentation. If the client is impressed
with your work, the client may want to continue to work with
your firm exclusively. This is an opportunity for your company
to potentially earn millions of dollars over the next few years.
Imagine that ...
You are four to six advertising firm
employees: You are all trained
art connoisseurs working together on this important project.
Try to be as professional and as objective as possible. Group
work should result in a consensus. As a team, select a name for
your company, design a logo, research a career in art, research
the educational requirements, decide how modern or emerging technologies
affect or will affect visual artists, create an informative brochure
and multimedia presentation that are unified.
