Figure 2 shows the English Bishoprics in 1066. They did not change appreciably between 1016 and 1066 so most of these are the same as when Cnut was king. Lindisfarne, Dorchester, and Dunwich are shown, but were combined with other sees before Cnut's reign. The See of Crediton moved to Exeter in 1049 and Ramsbury was combined with Sherborne in 1058.1

The table below contains a listof the bishops that headed the above sees during Cnut's reign. Bishops that were appointed by Cnut are shown in bold type. The dates given for succession vary significantly from source to source. Dates in the tables agree with the Anglo-Saxon Chronicle unless it conflicts with a more reasonable date given elsewhere.
